Field Evaluations Cont.

Kirk Duff's Overly Wheat

The group then went to eat lunch at Roy's B-B-Q just off Highway 183.  Tucker and Preston have fed us the last two years and the food was great.  Their father Keith Griffith also uses Pro-Soil on his farm.  Thanks for another great meal guys.

Kirk Duff - Hobart, Oklahoma

80+ Bushel Potential Wheat

In the afternoon, we went to look at a field of Overly wheat belonging to Kirk Duff. Kirk is the owner of Power Plus Cattle Company. (www.powerpluscattle.com)  Kirk has used Pro-Soil product formulas for five years now and the field of Overly we evaluated has 80+ bushel potential. It had PS-Foundation 1-0-1 treated on the seed at 8 ozs. per 100 lbs. of seed; plus two top dress applications of Triple 3. Total nitrogen on the field was 52 units. Pro-Soil Area Manager Brett Porter treated the seed and also applied both applications of Triple 3 in his John Deere 4720 sprayer.

“It is probably one of the best wheat fields we have ever seen,” said Porter.

We finished the field day at several of Brett and Carol Porter’s wheat fields.  These fields were all second-year no-till with PS-Foundation 1-0-1 on the seed and Triple-34 with 28-0-0 top dress.  We have several check strips that we will be collecting data from after harvest.  Overall the wheat looked very good.

No Small Feat

Ron Small (Fall 2004 Featured Farmer)  had a field of soybeans that made 118 bushel last season.

Ron spoke for us at a Covington Indiana meeting for over 90 farmers. Ron credits Pro-Soil Formula products as his primary ‘soil builder’ and has been on the program for six consecutive years.  Thank you Ron and Carolyn for everything you have done.

Ron is one of the Real Farm Results speakers on our website, www.Pro-Soil.com Go to the "Why Farm Biologically?"  page and click on the speaker icon next to Ron’s picture.

Ron also had several one hundred-plus-bushel wheat fields last season.

Ron said about using Pro-Soil, "Over the past 5 seasons we have gradually cut back on fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides. Our ground has improved every year since starting the Pro-Soil program and our yields have actually increased. The best thing is that through the gradual reductions that we have made on the program, we are spending less money per acre on our wheat, corn and beans and we are raising healthier crops. "

"Some will live to see that the last 30 years will be known as the Dark Days of Agriculture. Don’t treat your soil like dirt."
